The Blue Beyond

I have spent much of my life returning to the Blue Ridge Mountains. One of my favorite things when I drive into the mountains is finding the best overlook so I can watch the colors and skies change across the ridgelines. This is the quintessential view of my childhood - the undulating mountains and the way they are constantly changing, yet somehow always seem the same. As a child, I was entranced, but as a young adult I began to look for something beyond the familiar. Now, as someone who has come home (with my own kids), I recognize the wisdom and beauty embedded through the centuries of these aging, gentle mountains.
